Applications:

Digital insulation testers (megohmmeters) are primarily used to measure the resistance of electrical insulation in wires, cables, motors, and transformers to detect degradation and prevent electrical shock, shorts, and equipment failure. They are a critical tool for routine preventive maintenance and safety checks in industrial, commercial, and residential electrical systems.

Measuring Principle:

Digital insulation testers apply a high, regulated DC voltage across the insulation and then use Ohm's Law () to calculate the extremely high resistance value by measuring the resulting small leakage current. This process effectively determines the quality and integrity of the electrical insulation.
